Interview scorecard with STAR questions

When every interviewer rates by the same criteria, candidates can be compared — instead of “liked / didn’t like”.

The scorecard is free in Free. Scorecards of every interviewer for each candidate are in hiring (Pro).

  1. Pick 4–6 criteria from the job profile and give them weights.
  2. Ask a STAR question for each: situation, task, action, result.
  3. Rate the candidate 1–5 right after the interview — the total counts itself.

Sum of weightsThe weights do not add up to 100% — the total is still counted in proportion.

The ratings are kept only in this browser.

What the STAR method is

The answer is broken into four parts: Situation, Task, Action (what the candidate did personally) and Result. If the candidate says “we”, ask: “And what did you do yourself?”

Why rate right away

A day later the impression mixes with other candidates. Fill in the scorecard before you talk to colleagues — then their opinion does not change your rating.

Questions

How many criteria do I need?

4–6. With more the interviewer cannot check them in one meeting.

Can every interviewer use one scorecard?

Yes, that is the point. In PapaHR hiring each interviewer fills in their own scorecard and the total shows on the candidate.

What does it cost in PapaHR?

The scorecard in HR tools is free. Hiring with the scorecards of every interviewer is in Pro: $1.50 per employee a month.
